Job overview

We are looking for someone organised and efficient to support the administration within the NGS Macmillan Unit.  This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate, working 22.5 hours per week, covering ideally Monday, Wednesday & Friday.  Some flexibility is appreciated however.

We care for our staff as much as we do for our patients, so need someone who can support all the staff within the unit.  Please see detailed Job Description and Person Specification attached, for more information.

 

Main duties of the job

You would be supporting in the administration at the NGS Macmillan Unit. This includes the Chemotherapy team, the Palliative Care team, the Acute Oncology team, the Macmillan Information & Support Centre team and the Cancer Services management.

This will enable our clinical teams to spend more time in the clinical environment. You would be supporting them with their administration tasks, including staff roster management, HR and recruitment, attending meetings for minute taking, purchasing and procurement, booking staff trainings, diary management and sickness/absence reviews.  Other tasks can include updating data systems,  producing newsletters and any other administrative tasks as and when required.

We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level in English Grade 8-4 (or equivalent)
  • Excellent keyboard (IT) skills, RSAIII level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of using Health Roster/ similar system
  • Previous experience of Incident reporting (Datix)
  • Previous experience of using Agresso or unit4
  • Working knowledge of TRAC recruitment system

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of working independently and as part of a wider team
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Office and Excel applications
