Qualifications

Essential criteria

Successfully completed the Scientist Training Programme or commenced the Echocardiography Training Programme (ETP)
Successfully completed the BSE written exam

Desirable criteria

SCST Certificate in Electrocardiography or SCST Foundation in Essential ECG interpretation

Experience

Essential criteria

Basic understanding of the Cardio-Vascular system
Performing echocardiograms to full BSE minimum dataset
Working with confidential information
Ability to work under remote supervision

Desirable criteria

Experience of working within healthcare science
Experience of working with hospital booking/reporting systems

Skills

Essential criteria

Ability to perform basic cardiac investigations (ECG, ambulatory ECG fitting, ambulatory BP fitting)
Good communication skills with the ability to communicate with all grades of clinical staff across the range of specialities
Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.
