Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Consultant Physician in Gastroenterology and General Medicine to further develop our highly rated Gastroenterology services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Applicants will be expected to have completed broad based general medical training along with specific training in Gastroenterology. You will be on the Specialist Register, or be within six months of obtaining your CCT.

The post will suit individuals with the ambition and drive to provide modern, high-quality care, and it is anticipated that there will be opportunities for the appointee to develop a sub- specialty interest within the role.  We will also consider flexible working options, subject to the exigencies of the service.

Gastroenterology at Chesterfield Royal Hospital prides itself in giving excellent patient care, which is provided by seven consultants and four nurse specialists. The post will suit individuals with ambition and drive to provide modern, high-quality care.

The development of an Endoscopic Ultrasound and a G.I physiology services to help support current services would be strongly encouraged but the unit would support any interest of the individual.  The Trust also supports research and over the years has contributed to many portfolio research studies.

Participation in a 1:8 GI Bleed rota will be expected.

Essential criteria
  • MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and entry on GMC specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview.
Desirable criteria
  • Specialist interest or additional qualifications in other areas of specialty.

Experience

  • Quality/audit project experience
  • Experience of participation in CPD.
  • Clinical supervision experience/skills
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
