Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the CRH team to lead our programme of work on workforce transformation. This role will provide a real opportunity to make a positive difference in how we work ensuring the Trust implements best practice processes and develops a workforce strategy for the future. You will be experienced in workforce transformation and well-versed in the skills needed to lead and negotiate; with a proven improvement approach. 

Main duties of the job

The overall purpose is to lead workforce Transformation and Improvement activities in the organisation. The post holder is responsible for:

-        The provision of expert advice relating to workforce transformation and the development of associated plans in line with the Trust’s overall transformation programme including with review and realignment of priorities as needed. This will include working closely with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation to ensure the projects have clear deliverables and realise planned benefits.

-        Acting as the Operational lead for high priority workforce transformation programmes.

-       Working alongside the HR and OD team to support the delivery of the Trust's wider workforce strategy through workforce transformation.

Contributes to the delivery of outstanding patient care by: 

-        Helping bring improvement to life in the organisation.

-        Developing and embedding the Trust’s approach to improvement including education, training, coaching and direct support. 

-        Supporting the delivery and project management of high priority Transformation Programmes.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Degree level qualification
  • Education to master’s level or equivalent experience and knowledge
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Leadership and/or management qualification.
  • Specialist workforce transformation/planning/L&D /HR qualification e.g. Chartered Member.
  • CIPD or equivalent expertise and knowledge in learning/education.
  • Extensive knowledge of workforce transformation and business/workforce planning, modelling, methodologies and data analysis, mining tools.
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare environment and workforce challenges.
  • Project management qualification i.e. PRINCE2 or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience/ awareness of workforce supply routes in the NHS – apprenticeships, work experience etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of wider political and social drivers that influence service delivery within the NHS.
  • Coaching and/or mentoring qualification.
  • Financial qualification.
  • Experience of financial and/or economic modelling.

  • Significant experience of working in a strategic workforce role.
  • Significant experience of supporting senior leaders in identifying and achieving workforce/resourcing plans.
  • Highly developed leadership skills.
  • Significant experience and understanding of workforce transformation programmes, workforce data and analytics.
  • Solid experience of people management and development and leading change.
  • Designing and delivering workforce transformation activities.
  • Experience of financial planning.
  • Proven track record in programme design and project management.
  • Demonstrates a high level of knowledge of NHS Policy & Strategy.
  • Experience of NHS workforce systems.
  • Understanding of the NHS People Plan ambitions and its implications for services.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of developing workforce planning strategy.
  • Experience of implementing digital solutions in workforce.
