Job overview

A rare and exciting opportunity for a Staff Nurse to join Holywell and theatre admissions unit  working 37.5 Hours per week.  Working with our friendly and approachable team you will support Consultants in the delivery of patient care to an exceptional standard.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will carry out nursing duties in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and ensure all Professional Standards and Trust Policies are complied with.

The post holder will work under the direction of the departmental sister to ensure that the department continually provides a high standard of nursing care and treatments to patients and their families by assisting medical and nurse specialists to ensure the smooth provision of services to patients attending the department.

Chesterfield Royal Hospital was officially opened by the queen in 1985 and since then it has continued to expand and modernise, currently holding approximately 550 beds. We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.

We are currently rated GOOD by the CQC.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • NMC professional registration
Desirable criteria
  • Mentorship Qualification

Experiance

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience and understanding of nursing processes i.e. assessment care planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Experience as a Staff Nurse in an acute area. i.e. Surgical ward or HDU/ITU
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with various surgical specialties
  • Previous experience within pre-assessment.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Commitment to undertake professional development including Trust’s Preceptorship and essential training programmes
  • Effective communication skills
  • Organised and prioritises workload
Desirable criteria
