Job overview
We are looking to appoint Speciality Doctors in Urology to join our friendly surgical team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. You will work under the supervision of the consultants to deliver a high-quality service to patients with general urological conditions, as well as providing support to junior colleagues and nursing staff as required.
You will participate in a rota comprising Specialty Doctor colleagues and a Higher Specialist Trainee. Some aspects of the role can be bespoke to the individual needs of the post-holder and tailored to take into account previous relevant experience, or achievement of requirements for application to specialty training.
There is a full shift rota in place & applicants must be able to participate in the full shift pattern.
Mentor support can also be provided for those either already undertaking or looking to commence self-directed Portfolio Pathway.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of application
- MRCS
Desirable criteria
- FRCS Urology
Experience
Essential criteria
- Four years full-time post graduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part time basis) at least two of which will be in a Surgical speciality training programme
- Sufficient skills and experience to function safely on the Middle Grade on call rota in an acute District General Hospital
- Quality/audit project experience and other aspects of clinical governance
- Experience of participation in CPD
Desirable criteria
- Previous NHS clinical experience
- Previous experience of using an online patient record system e.g., SystemOne.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Clinical supervision experience/skills
- Good written and oral communication skills.
Desirable criteria
- Motivation skills, leadership skills and flexibility.
- Diagnostic Flexible cystoscopy
- Urodynamics
- TP Prostate Biopsies under LA
- Ability to undertake training of clinical staff.
