Job overview
A vacancy has arisen for a Ward Administrator on the newly built Derwent Unit. This post will be based on Willow Ward at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
The post is full time (37.5 hours per week) Monday to Friday during office hours, however we may be able to offer some flexibility around this.
The post offers the opportunity to join an established and lively team, where safety and wellbeing is at the heart of the team's ethos.
Derwent Unit
· 54-bed mental health acute inpatient unit on the site of Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
· Flexible accommodation for adults of working age.
· Single en-suite bedrooms to provide privacy and dignity.
· Recovery supported by service users having more control of their environment, e.g. temperature and lighting.
· Better infection control.
· Sensory rooms, quiet spaces and green spaces.
· Part of the Making Room for Dignity programme.

Main duties of the job
You will be working closely with the clinical team to maintain the functionality of the team. You will provide admin support to the Ward Manager and the clinical team, including minuting meetings and arranging appointments.
The job role will consist of carrying out standard administrator responsibilities, supporting the team and manager to maintain and develop the clinical and operational performance of the ward.
Though you will not be providing hands on patient care, patients may look to you for support and advice, which can be a rewarding experience.
You will play a part in managing phone activity within the staff office and displaying the Trust and team values to patient, carers and colleagues.
You will respond to the needs of people in an honest, non-judgemental and open manner which respects the rights of individuals and groups.
You will ensure that services are provided in a safe and supportive environment and at all times adopt a professional approach to your work promoting a positive image to services users/carers and the general public.

Ordering and monitoring ward stock and necessary items through finance and procurement system.
Scanning documents to the Electronic Patient Record to ensure clinical objectives are met.
Gathering ward data to handover in operational and clinical meetings.
Managing phone activity in staff office and communicating messages to the appropriate staff member.
Assisting management team in the collation of information to meet clinical and operational objectives such as audit and ward improvement.
Manage ward post and ensure this reaches the appropriate staff member.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Typing RSA/ OCR level II or equivalent
- English Language GCSE grade 4 or equivalent qualification

- ECDL or equivalent IT qualification
