DSFS Workforce Facilitator

To support partnership working with DSFS Recognised Trade Unions DSFS employee local matters, and to connect with DSFS employees who are not TU members so that every DSFS employee has equal access to information and a Voice that is heard regardless of TU membership status.

To support pay negotiations as per the re-launched DSFS Partnership Agreement June 2025, and DSFS Pay Policy, ensuring Union Members opinions and non-union members views are all represented.

To help administer the DSFS SPC Committee.

To be a conduit for information concerning DSFS employees.

To help provide a wide range of specialist employment and well-being advice to the DSFS workforce, acting as a signpost to available forms of advice, guidance and support. To help DSFS non-union member workforce and trade union members, to support their own colleagues within disciplinary and grievance issues and all other employee relations matters including appeals. This will include signposting workforce towards available support and advice appropriately.

To help negotiate and consult on organisational change and specific complex employment issues as part of team including HR.

To support leaders and raise the engagement of staff in the DSFS People survey.

To engage in joint meetings and work proactively with management on all issues which have employee implications and to promote the role and contribution of staff side. 

To support discussions within meetings for example Policies Working Group, DSFS Job Evaluation, Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Grievance and Disciplinary, staff satisfaction and engagement and any other meeting where appropriate.

To be empathetic to workforce matters. 

To attend regional / national meetings and / or conferences for the mutual benefit of the organisation.

Support workforce representation for individuals in personal meetings / formal hearings with management, some issues of which may be complex and in an atmosphere that is emotive and potentially antagonistic. To signpost others to appropriate representatives.

To participate where necessary and appropriate in the induction of new employees at the DSFS Induction.

To help plan and organise DSFS Staff Partnership meetings, identifying issues for debate, distributing appropriate documentation, and recording discussions and decisions.

To engage with management in joint presentations / training packages relating to employee issues.

To liaise with TU representatives and with non-union member employees, for the inspection, control, and development of all aspects of workplace Health and Safety.

Active participation and assistance in the delivery of DSFS’s long- and short-term corporate objectives through involvement in projects and working groups.
To work jointly with the DSFS HR and OD Team and Managers to develop a culture within DSFS that is underpinned by the 4R Values, Respect, Resourceful, Reliability and  Responsive and the DSFS Inclusion Pledge. 

Support the DSFS HR and OD Team and Health and Safety Services in policy development and processes that effect employees.

To inform DSFS policies and development of business strategies through participation in the DSFS Staff Partnership. 

Establish and maintain a working relationship with the DSFS HR and OD team and DSFS Managers ensuring an understanding of the DSFS services and our people

Qualifications and Training

  • Understanding of the role of Accredited Union Representatives and the wider role of Trade Unions in the workplace or willingness to achieve this understanding
  • Educated to diploma level/equivalent experience
  • Commitment to personal and professional development including relevant courses
  • Working knowledge of Employment Law and adjacent best practice

Experience

  • The post holder would be expected to have specialist working knowledge of a range of Employee Relations topics acquired through diploma, additional training or equivalent experience
  • Up to date knowledge of Employment Law and practices
  • Working knowledge of the role of local policies and procedures HR, H&S
  • Experience of dealing with Grievance and Disciplinary cases
  • Excellent understanding of the benefits of positive relations with workforce regardless of TU membership status
