Community Mental Health - Clozapine and Depot Clinic

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our Depot and Clozapine Clinic within Derby City.

You will be part of a small and friendly team based within a Clinic Setting at the Resource Centre on London Road.  The role will include assisting with the running of the depot/clozapine clinic and the administration/supervision  of long acting injections.  The Clinic is also a One Stop Service for Clozapine with in house  venepuncture and point of care blood analysis, physical health screening and dispensing.  

The team works within a multi-disciplinary service and the role will be varied and will offer opportunities to work with service users suffering from a range of serious mental illnesses and dual diagnoses.  

You will be supported in your clinical work and provided with effective supervision and relevant training.  

Main duties of the job

1. To provide a comprehensive, accessible and responsive mental health services to adults within the local area.

2. To deliver physical health interventions to patients under the service inclusive of phlebotomy.

3. To assist in the management of a depot/clozapine clinic.  

4. To administer long acting injections and facilitate clozapine monitoring. 

5. To continually develop clinical, team and service evaluation and delivery of the service.  

6. To contribute to effective multi-disciplinary working within the CMHT and build effective liaison with community, primary and other secondary and tertiary services and agencies within the area. 

7. To meet the changing demands of the service as required.

The post holder will be clinically responsible for supporting the delivery of a flexible, responsive local service within a Neighbourhood. 

The post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues, key partners and those within the local community to develop services to meet the mental health needs of the community. The post holder will communicate with people with a range of mental health needs, to provide and receive complex, sensitive information to people where there are barriers to understanding.

The post holder will employ a wide range of skills, building on and developing their expertise and actively seeking advice and collaboration with issues which may not be readily within their sphere of competence. As a registered practitioner you are professionally and legally accountable under the NMC code of professional practice

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse – mental health
  • Degree/ Diploma in Nursing or equivalent experience
  • Membership of a nursing professional body.
Desirable criteria
  • ENB 998/Mentoring in Practice

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable understanding of Mental Health disorders and treatment models
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the principles of CPA (Care Programme Approach) where appropriate
  • Awareness of Nursing assessments and interventions and outcome measures, relevant to client group
  • Ability to travel across a large geographical area without compromising service delivery

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of clinical supervision
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate experience in community
  • Previous community experience - can be as a student
