This post offers a chance to shape the future of one of the UK's largest non-surgical cardiac centres, serving a catchment of over 1 million residents across Derbyshire and East Staffordshire.

• 1x Consultant Cardiologist with interest in Cardiac Imaging

The Derby and Burton Heart centre is one of the largest non-surgical units in the UK, offering state-of-the-art diagnostic and interventional facilities. We work closely with regional cardiothoracic centres including Glenfield Hospital (Leicester), Trent Cardiac Centre (Nottingham) and Royal Stoke Hospital (Stoke on Trent)
Main duties of the job
Consultant Cardiologist – Cardiac Imaging

You will:
- Join a team of three imaging consultants in delivering and developing advanced cardiac imaging services.
- Contribute to BSE-accredited echocardiography, TOE, DSE, CT, and MRI services.
- Expand our services in line with NICE CG95 guidance and rising demand.
- Participate in a 1:7-8 general cardiology on-call rota covering CCU and dedicated consultant of week cardiology wards

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Facilities and Support
- Three catheter labs at Derby (2 for PCI and 1 devices) .
- 13-bedded CCU, day-case unit, and 32–45 bedded dedicated cardiology wards.
- Large clinical measurement department, accredited by BSE, offering comprehensive echo services.
- Excellent partnership with radiology for CT and MRI cardiac imaging.
- Close ties with the University of Nottingham, supporting medical education and NIHR cardiovascular research

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCP or equivalent
- Have full GMC registration and hold a license to practice at time of application
- Eligible for entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Cardiology
Desirable criteria
- Higher degree e.g. MD /PhD
Experience
Essential criteria
- Ability to manage and lead a service
Teaching
Essential criteria
- Teaching student and resident doctors
Desirable criteria
- Show an understanding of the development needs of trainees and how these can be met.
Audit
Essential criteria
- Experience of clinical audit
- Experience of audit management
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of service development activity
Training
Essential criteria
- Trained in all aspects of Cardiology AND be fully trained in Cardiac Imaging (Echo, CT, and MR)
Desirable criteria
- Level 3 in CMR and CT
Clinical Skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstratable track record in coronary angiography (and pacing)
- Wide experience in Cardiology
Desirable criteria
- Dual accreditation in general medicine
