Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for;

Job overview

Applications are invited from conscientious, adaptable, reliable, and well-motivated individuals with a willingness to learn who can complement our coding team.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and judgement skills, be proficient in the use of computers and technology and be able to autonomously manage their own workload. As part of the role, they will need to learn detailed medical terminology and human anatomy and have the ability to liaise with all levels of NHS staff.

There is a clear progression within the department and candidates must be willing to study for an internal examination to attain a band 4. This will lead to being able to undertake training for the Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) qualification. This consists of two parts, a Practical examination, and a Theory examination. Coders who attain this qualification are then upgraded to Band 5.

A flexible approach and excellent organisation skills are vital.
These positions will be based at Royal Derby Hospital. Following completion of initial training hybrid working will be available.

The recruitment process will involve an assessment day. This will enable us to identify your aptitude for the type of work involved in clinical coding.

We look forward to receiving your application if you think you have the required qualities and are willing to commit to our intensive training programme.
