Job overview
The NHS financial environment is increasingly complex and subject to significant scrutiny. Working collaboratively with fellow Deputy Directors of Finance, this role will help ensure the integrity of the general ledger and provide assurance to the Director of Operational Finance and Director of Strategic Finance that financial information is accurate, reliable, and compliant with professional accounting standards.
The post holder will lead and support the Financial Services teams across a range of functions, including financial accounting and controls, capital expenditure, treasury management, and purchase and sales ledger operations. The role requires a commitment to continuous improvement, fostering a culture that values innovation, learning, and collaboration. The successful candidate will bring professional curiosity and constructive challenge, encouraging diverse perspectives and supporting the development of effective, inclusive, and efficient ways of working.
Main duties of the job
You will provide compassionate, visible, and inclusive leadership, fostering a high-performing culture that enables the Financial Services team to deliver responsive, high-quality services that support the Trust’s strategic and operational objectives.
In addition, you will:
• Leading statutory financial responsibilities, including submission of the Annual Consolidated Accounts and liaison with external auditors.
• Ensuring compliance and driving the effective development of key procedures, controls and plans across Financial Services.
• Delivering robust reporting and forecasting to proactively monitor cash, capital expenditure and working capital.
• Leading and developing teams effectively while building strong relationships with stakeholders and partners.
• Deputising for the Director of Operational Finance as required.
