Job overview
The Pharmacy Digital team at UHDB is a small, dedicated team, with a mission to improve patient care through appropriate use of data and technology. This includes management of Trust ePMA systems, Pharmacy specific systems, and automation solutions, including stock control, dispensing robots, and cabinets and tracking solutions. We also use the data that comes out the "back end" of these systems, supported by both our own, and Trust Business Intelligence analysts.
This post will support us in our goals by leading on configuration and optimisation of the Trust ePMA solution. Working with other Pharmacy professionals in the team, you will liaise with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, and use your previous clinical and/or operational experience, to ensure that ePMA configuration is safe, effective, and provides an optimal experience for our clinical teams.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role include:
- Supporting the Senior Pharmacist - Clinical Systems with management of the Trust ePMA solutions.
- Investigating, suggesting and building the case to implement new ideas for our systems.
- Working collaboratively with the Chief Pharmacy Technicians for Automation and Pharmacy Systems to ensure interoperability between systems wherever possible, and maximising the benefits of that interoperability.
- Leads Training to the UHDB Pharmacy team and acts as a point of reference for Pharmacy staff on the ePMA system.
- Supporting the Chief Pharmacy Technician for Pharmacy Systems with stock control processes across our sites.
In order to support this you will be someone who:
- Is a registered Pharmacy Technician in the UK who has already gained broad operational and/or clinical experience.
- Has used ePMA systems before either in a clinical or operational capacity.
- Can see a problem, work out the root cause, implement a solution and then measure the effectiveness of that solution.

Education, Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Significant post qualification experience with substantial operational experience
Desirable criteria
- Membership of other general professional groups - e.g. APTUK
- Membership of specific related professional groups - e.g. British Computer Society, Federation of Informatics Professionals
Skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates clinical reasoning and judgement and is able to manage difficult problems
- Assessing when to act within departmental guidelines and when to refer problems to senior staff
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Computer Literacy - General PC skills such as ECDL or equivalent
- Knowledge and experience of ePMA system configuration
- Knowledge of Pharmacy Stock Control principles and systems used to support those
Desirable criteria
- ePMA configuration experience - this could be for any system
- ePMA configuration experience with a Trust platform - Nervecentre, Lorenzo, Meditech
- Knowledge of main pharmacy systems in use
- In depth knowledge of configuration for the Nervecentre system
