Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a 12 month secondment (or fixed term contract) covering Team Manager for the South Derbyshire Living Well service. We are looking for a motivated individual, with a passion for Mental Health who can provide compassionate leadership. Someone who will drive forward quality standards, provide operational management and leadership, with a visible presence to support the team.
The team is multi-disciplinary in nature, being made up of Nurses, OTs, Support Workers, Psychology, Medical colleagues and Administrators.
The role of the Team Manager is to manage the daily functioning of the team, ensuring that safe and effective care is delivered to people within the locality utilising the early intervention model. It is a varied and busy position but equally rewarding.
We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record for leading and supporting a team on a cultural journey.
The successful individual will receive regular supervision, peer support, access to action learning sets and development opportunities.
Please note that you must have the prior approval from your current line manager before submitting your application if applying on a secondment basis.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the job include:
- Day-to-day support of the teams.
- Delivering regular and effective management supervision.
- Engaging individuals in meaningful appraisals and developing personal development plans.
- Management of performance within the team.
- Working closely with the Clinical Lead to ensure safe and best practice is being delivered.
- Supporting the well-being needs of team.
- Implementing change and being part of quality improvement projects.
- Managing employee relation issues such as sickness and performance management.
- Working with local system partners to deliver place-based care.

Training, Qualifications and Registration
Essential criteria
- Degree/Diploma in Nursing or Occupational Therapy
- ENB 998/Mentoring in Practice or professional equivalent
- Current registration with the relevant professional body, eg NMC/HCPC
Desirable criteria
- Management/Leadership Qualification
Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
- Recent and relevant experience of working as a Band 6 or equivalent in a mental health community setting
- Experience of working with people who have severe and enduring needs
- Experience of supervising junior staff and students
- Ability to manage complex and sensitive information using well-developed motivational and negotiating skills, representing the nursing service in a variety of different situations
- Understanding of Professional Codes of Conduct, revalidation and core skills, and their application in practice.
- Understanding of recent developments in the NHS.
