Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Full time Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our dynamic and enthusiastic therapy team based at Dawlish Hospital. This role focuses on  supporting the delivery of Physiotherapy assessment and  rehabilitation programmes for patients admitted to our medical wards,  facilitating them to recover and leave hospital  as quickly as possible.   

If you enjoy working within  a rehabilitative setting  and have a passion for  supporting a home first approach for our patients, then this role could be for you.  Our patients present with a wide variety of conditions including general medical, orthopaedic and long-term conditions therefore offering clinical variety. 

This post would suit someone with existing band 6 experience who is looking to develop their clinical and leadership skills  in a supportive environment.   We will also consider applications for this post as a developmental role from suitable Band 5 candidates.

Main duties of the job

You will need  to have a broad range of post graduate experience including experience within an  NHS  health care of the older person setting.  You must have excellent communication skills  and have a good understanding of hospital discharge processes. 

Under the supervision of the B7 Inpatient Therapy Manager you be responsible for the continued development of the Physiotherapy service within the Dawlish community hospital ward, therefore some experience of service development/improvement  would be an advantage

As a senior member of the therapy team having a compassionate approach to both staff and patients is essential. Being comfortable working within a team and being able to work autonomously is also essential for this role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 

·         Diploma/degree in physiotherapy

·         Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, including attendance at recent Postgraduate courses relevant to the clinical field

·         Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team

·         Some experience working with a biopsychosocial approach to assessment and treatment

·         Requirement for prolonged periods of intense concentration (to analyse complex information, e.g. during assessments of up to 90 minutes length, taking in-depth patient history, movement analysis and teaching clinical skills)

Essential criteria
  • Experience of health care of the older person
  • Experience as a band 5 Physiotherapist across a broad range of rotations including respiratory, Neuro,T&O and hospital discharge
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of service development and improvement
  • Experience as a band 6 Physiotherapist in relevant field
  • Previous experience of supporting student placements
  • Staff management experience

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/degree in physiotherapy
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development, including attendance at recent Postgraduate courses relevant to the clinical field
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate training in a Health Care of the elderly field
