Job overview
Children and Family Health Devon is a system-wide service that delivers an integrated, coordinated support model which wraps around the child, young person and family. It has been specifically designed to respond to all elements of the commissioner’s strategy and specification along with the vision and strategic direction of the Integrated Care System for Devon. It builds on our strong relationships across education, health, social care and voluntary sector services in Devon, and, most importantly, it has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.
This role will contribute a range of psychological services to the clients of Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD), under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist within the Specialist Learning Disability Service.
You will be required to communicate with children and young people across the age range from infancy to 18 years to support the delivery of mental health and well-being assessments and interventions.
This work is subject to weekly clinical supervision and management by the responsible qualified psychologist.
You will promote good working relationships with all staff and clients in assigned areas of work
The post is advertised with a base in Exeter however we have multiple bases across Devon which could be considered for the successful applicant.

Main duties of the job
· Contribute a range of psychological services to the clients of the Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD), under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist
· Undertake psychological screening, assessment and interventions with children and their parents/carers presenting with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties; this will include producing reports, direct and indirect individual and group work
· Work independently to an appropriate level, under supervision and abiding by the professional guidelines and code of conduct for registered Clinical Psychologists
· Support research activity including audit, service evaluation, literature reviews and research as required and in agreement with the Clinical Psychology Lead and managers of the service
· The post-holder is responsible for his/her own workload, but is expected to engage with regular supervision from a qualified Clinical Psychologist and review through the management process

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Specialist Learning Disability Service is a Specialist service consisting of Learning Disability Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Assistant Practitioners who offer a range of services for children and adolescents with a diagnosed Learning Disability and Autism including assessment and intervention, group work, consultation, liaison and training for other agencies.
The service can support Children & Adolescents with moderate to profound Learning Disability, in conjunction with complex emotional, behavioural, health or sleep issues related to this diagnosis.

Essential
Essential criteria
- Bachelor Degree at Honours level at 2:2 or above, giving eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
- Graduate level knowledge of psychological theories relevant to child development & child mental health
- Graduate level knowledge and experience of research and research methodology
- Experience in working with children, young people and families
Desirable criteria
- Further postgraduate training in relevant area of professional psychology, health and social care practice and/or research design and analysis
- Experience of working with children and young people with complex needs, e.g., children with a Learning Disability and/or care experienced children
- Experience of working with children and young people with emotional and mental health difficulties, in a clinical or healthcare environment and / or community-based setting
- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary and/or multi-agency services
