Job overview
We are looking for a number of hardworking and enthusiastic individuals who can demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills to become part of our established Pharmacy Team.
As part of the dispensary team, you will perform a range of dispensary-based activities including inpatient, outpatient and discharge prescriptions.
The post holder will predominantly be based in the dispensary team contributing towards delivering a comprehensive pharmacy service to the acute hospital wards, community hospitals and other patient settings.
We are excited to advertise new opportunities on the basis of a new working pattern and shift pattern. Therefore these posts will be on a specific working arrangement for this new team, which differs to existing teams. Posts are on the basis of: 37.5 hours a week, split over 5 days but across a 7 day a week pattern and team members would be rostered to one of three shift patterns (0800 – 1600, 0900-1700 or 1200 – 2000). Flexible working applications are welcome for those wishing to consider part time working.
Main duties of the job
The post will involve duties that assist Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists in the dispensing process both in the dispensary and at ward level and work within the distribution area to provide a ward top-up and medicines supply service. The ideal candidate will have a good general education (minimum entry requirement indicated on job specification) and demonstrable computer experience. If not already held, you will take part in the NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy services (in-house training is provided).
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Whilst in the Dispensary your day will include labelling and dispensing of prescriptions. Being the Pharmacy first point of contact on reception, receiving and prioritising prescriptions and dealing with initial queries directly with ward nursing and support staff. You will also be expected to deliver prescription medicines from Pharmacy to ward and departments across the hospital site.
In Distribution you will be responsible for maintaining appropriate levels of stock medicines on ward and departments across the hospital site. This will include visiting wards, checking the medicines held against pre-determined stock lists and replenishing stock to these levels. You will then pick the stock from the Pharmacy store and deliver to the appropriate ward.

- GCSE’s 9-4 (A-C) in Maths & English or equivalent demonstrable experience in a similar role.
