Job overview
The post provides administrative support to the technical staff in Clinical Engineering
To engage with educational learning including completion of a competency framework to support progression to a Band 3
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
- Receives and acts on instructions from the Administration Team Leader.
- Greets visitors, including couriers with equipment deliveries and collections to the department.
- Answers telephone queries and acts on / directs as appropriate or on guidance of team leader.
- Logs requests into the Medical Devices database and adds service reports as directed.
- Provides reports of library activity and asset maintenance as required.
- Engages with competency achievement for their post through participation in training activities and completion of a competency framework.
- Assists with providing a range of secretarial and administration duties as required by the Clinical Engineering/HCST management.

Person specification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- • Able to use computers and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) or similar.
- • Ability to accurately touch type.
Desirable criteria
- • Previous demonstrable experience within a similar role
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • NVQ L2 or equivalent demonstrable experience
- • A minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4/C and above, including English Language, Mathematics.
Desirable criteria
- • GCSE/BTEC qualification in Business Studies or IT.
Apptitude and Abilities
Essential criteria
- • Able to work flexibly on own initiative as well as part of a team.
- • Good communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels.
Desirable criteria
- • Interest in technology.
