University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is on a journey to redevelop our healthcare estate as part of the government’s New Hospital Programme. The focus for phase one of the ‘Future Hospital’ programme will be on improved provision for our urgent and emergency care services at Derriford Hospital. This will involve the development of a new Emergency Care Building; a purpose-built facility, creating space to care for the sickest patients. We know that our population is growing at a faster rate than the national average and this building will allow us to manage the increase in patients we expect to see in the future The Trust had the Full Business Case (FBC) approved for the Emergency Care Building in 2025, for a new four storey facility totalling 18,000 M2. It is currently under construction and due for completion in 2028/29. It will provide floors dedicated to providing services for a new Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency Care and Short Stay Ward, Interventional Radiology Theatres to provide a Day Case Unit, and Surgical Theatres. This is a 5 year fixed term post. Professional Technical Governance The post holder will be based in the office with the Trust Performance Information team for at least 2 days a week, where they will receive technical data analyst support, guidance and oversight. This will include: • Mentoring in analytics discipline • Orientation programme within the Performance Information team • Senior sign off of the business rules initially |
Main duties of the job
As a Business Analyst (BA), you will be responsible for the analysis and review of processes and systems, identifying where improvements and efficiencies can be gained, driving forward the Trust's agenda of improvements and benefits realisation. Supporting the Benefits Realisation Lead, Business Change Lead and Finance Lead in leading changes of culture, approach, systems, and processes.
b The Business Analyst will work for the Future Hospital Programme to plan and lead BA activities within specific projects. They will be responsible for applying structured approaches to identify, investigate, analyse, and communicate complex business problems and opportunities within a defined project, often testing proposed changes before implementation.
The post holder will review processes and provide clear data and process analysis, process mapping, systems analysis, and user experience analysis to enable the programme to review and improve processes. They will lead on reviewing processes and identifying efficiencies, business modelling and requirements gathering. The post holder will also support a Digital focus with opportunities for efficiency and innovation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Communication and Relationship skills
1. Writing, sourcing, reviewing, and presenting highly complex and contentious management information, BA documentation, reports and briefs to a wide range of staff.
2. To present and demonstrate a wide variety of solutions and communicate a range of complex and sensitive business processes to large user groups and senior managers.
3. Develop and maintain professional relationships with all disciplines within and outside of the Trust.
4. Able to facilitate and support the team encouraging knowledge share across those teams bringing best benefits to UHP.
5. To provide detailed project updates to the relevant project managers and communicate any proposed risks to the project board.
6. Build and maintain relationships with a number of key stakeholders across the organisation including both clinical and nonclinical. This would include: senior management, internal/external project managers, relevant governing bodies, Business Change Managers, Building for the Future Teams, Estates and Facilities
teams, IT and wider partners.
