Main duties of the job
As Educational Lead, you will:

Take responsibility for managing staff education and training, ensuring high standards of practice and professional development across the CT team.

Coordinate and support student placements, working closely with universities and clinical staff to provide an excellent learning environment.

Contribute to the day-to-day organisation and smooth running of the CT department, supporting both staff and service delivery.

Work collaboratively with the wider Radiology team to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred imaging services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• To be a specialist in CT protocol implementation. This will involve the providing and receiving complex / highly complex information, the ability to review parameters, interpret and diagnose manufacturer information, operator errors and equipment issues.
• To be a specialist in CT imaging having developed, highly specialist knowledge of all CT technologies and techniques. This will involve the ability to provide and receive complex / highly complex information.
• Be a specialist in CT education, having highly developed specialist knowledge of CT practice, underpinned by theory and experience. Be able to prioritise your own workload, and provide training sessions for the CT radiographic teams. Possess specialist skills so able to provide educational leadership across the full spectrum of CT with the ability to adapt knowledge to complex cases, thereby supporting and guiding the radiographic team.
• Ensure the department is kept up-to-date with developments and advances in CT, and propose changes to practices in consultation with the Lead CT Radiographer and CT Clinical lead to ensure best practice.
• Be able to assess and implement highly specialist imaging procedures and CT technologies, be able to provide support to the wider CT team and develop their skills in this regard.
• Be responsible for the induction and training of radiographers new to the department, including those with minimal prior CT experience by delivering specialist training. Be able to empathise and reassure and identify any barriers to understanding,
• As educational lead for CT, oversee the on-going training programmes within CT, including authorising, i.v. cannulation etc, reviewing and updating learning materials as required to ensure best practice. Ensure the team maintain competencies as required, ensure adequate documentation is kept of training and competencies, including for advanced roles.
• As educational lead be responsible for communication with education providers as a point of contact for all student matters, including training capacity and student assessment.
• Support the wider team in ensuring scanning protocols, technique guides and troubleshooting tips on Q Pulse and other sources such is SharePoint and Wiki page are up-todate and fit for purpose.

Person specification
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Must have demonstrated the competencies expected of band 6 CT radiographers.
- Must have demonstrated an aptitude in, or sustained interest in CT education, including teaching.
- Proven evidence of recent CPD.
Desirable criteria
- Significant demonstrable post registration experience in CT
- Awareness of NHS policies and documents
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current HPC registration
- BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
- Certificate in IV Cannulation or willingness to obtain once appointed
Desirable criteria
- Computer literate (ECDL)
- Post graduate teaching qualification
Aptitudes and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels.

Desirable criteria
- Ability to interpret the Trust’s policy on Violence and Aggression in order to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
