Main duties of the job
The Resuscitation service lead will be responsible for overall strategic planning, organisation and delivery of basic life support, intermediate life support, advanced life support training and associated training in line with the Trusts CPR Training Policy and in accordance with National Resuscitation Council Guidelines
The Resuscitation Service Lead will be responsible for ensuring a robust resuscitation service is provided Trust wide and to ensure that the service provides appropriate support clinically, educationally, and managerially.
The Lead will ensure that the service meets any statutory and mandatory requirements in terms of training provision (including national, regional and Deanery requirements), governance, resource allocation and management.

The lead will ensure effective operational delivery of this training via effective management of all resuscitation service resources.
The Lead will be required, to audit and monitor standards of resuscitation practice and equipment within the Trust. Assist with the procurement and monitoring of clinical equipment used during resuscitation within the Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Line manage the resuscitation, medical devices, medical gases training teams to ensure appropriate management of individuals and development of the teams.
Lead the resuscitation data audit collection acting as a conduit between clinical practice and the National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA) formulating reports for the resuscitation committee and relevant clinical teams.
Project manage priority resuscitation training programmes across the organisation ensuring that clinical staff are supported to work in compliance with regulatory body standards for meeting the national standards of safety and quality of care.
Lead on the development, delivery and support of the national adult and paediatric advanced / immediate life support courses run by the department.
Support the Trust’s resuscitation teams and be involved in the development and implementation of resuscitation policies and procedures trust wide.
Support the Resuscitation committee and act as a senior member of the group. Provide assurance to this committee with regards to training for resuscitation, clinical practice standards and results of clinical audit.
Maintain a specialist knowledge base to support the lead for department of professional healthcare education to lead on clinical education in resuscitation services.
Lead and coordinate mandatory training in order to be compliant with national standards and regulations and governance.
Provide information and professional advice to support the Trust to meet national standards and legislative requirements in relation to resuscitation and medical emergencies.
Lead on the developments, implementation and audit of the Trust’s Resuscitation policy

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered professional with current registration i.e., NMC, HCPC
- Post registration Acute/Critical Care Qualification at degree level or above e.g. ED, Critical Care, Acute Medicine
- Post graduate Training / education qualification (e.g., postgraduate Cert/Dip) or willing to work towards
- Either, current, ALS Provider or APLS Provider
Desirable criteria
- Leadership and management qualification at degree level or above
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience of working in a National Health Service provider unit
- Demonstrable experience of working in an acute/critical care service front line e.g. ED, Critical Care, Acute Medicine
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrable experience of working with HEE and FE sector
Aptitude & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Enhanced interpersonal skills to handle group facilitation, 1:1 coaching
- Developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use a wide range of techniques (facilitation, coaching, instruction, etc.) and a range of delivery media
- Demonstrable experience of delivering Personal skills and development programmes

- Lead the development of proactive and responsive resuscitation training, which is compliant with Resuscitation Council standards and is achievable within clinical practice and the changing needs and environs of patient care.
- Use specialist knowledge when attending resuscitation attempts to advise, co-ordinate and facilitate the resuscitation team.
- Lead the audit of results from resuscitation attempts to determine the adequacy of existing systems, identify deficiencies, and implement methods of improvement
- Oversee maintenance of resuscitation equipment within the Trust in collaboration with Clinical Engineering
- To work in collaboration with staff from other departments within the Trust, the Peninsula Medical School and with other service purchasers, to create a patient focused service and encompassing all elements of clinical governance.
- Evaluate the impact of learning and development programmes on individuals, and service delivery for the clinical, competency-based training delivered; use analytical skills to produce regular reports on training activity as required
- Establish and lead on the delivery of a training strategy for resuscitation, medical devices and medical gases equipment ensuring that clinical competency training is recorded and monitored through Workforce & OD systems.
