Job overview

 The post holder will provide a comprehensive reception and administrative 
support function the Radiology Academy and Derriford Hospital reception 
areas.


Post is 37.5 hours based over 7 days a week.


This post includes evenings and weekend shifts. 

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

Main duties of the job

To greet all visitors/patients who enter the department and approach the 
Reception Desk. Providing an efficient service, including the reception of, 
staff, patients, and visitors to the department. 

To ensure as far as possible, that the Receptionist is always available in 
the reception area.

To be responsible for the general quality and appearance of the reception 
area.

To receive all incoming post and process in a timely manner, and ensure all outgoing post is similarly processed.


 Communication with stakeholders including trainees, clinicians, managers, patients, other colleagues, and workers from other agencies.


 Recording, archiving, and recalling files as necessary.


To be involved in trainee satisfaction surveys, risk assessments and staff 
questionnaires, as required by the departmental management team.

To be available, once fully trained, to assist within the bookings team and 
book patients where required.

Person specification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous demonstrable experience in a receptionist role.
  • Demonstratable administrative and/or secretarial experience
  • Demonstratable experience in the use of Windows based applications (e.g MS word, MS Excel)
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrable experience working within a large clinical setting

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Secondary Education to GCSE level A-C/ 4-9 in Maths and English or equivalent level of qualification/ equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Good level of general education including proven evidence of key skills in numeracy and literacy
  • Basic ability to use computerised systems
Desirable criteria
  • IT / computing qualification

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate good IT and keyboard skills
  • Demonstrate good communication skills; written, verbal and electronic with ability to communicate with people at all levels.
