Clinical Teaching Fellow Obstetrics and Gynaecology

NHS Medical & Dental: Foundation Year 2

Job overview

The post is an exciting opportunity to receive training in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, and to undertake a fully funded Certificate in Clinical Education at the University of Plymouth.

Plymouth University Peninsula School of Medicine and Dentistry (PUPSMD) has been praised by the GMC for its innovative approach to undergraduate medical education. The curriculum is based around problem-based learning and has been highly ranked by our graduates in how they felt prepared for postgraduate medicine. Your role will include important opportunities to engage with undergraduate education, in both the hospital environment and the school itself, to continue this vital job of producing tomorrow’s doctors and allied health care professionals.

Duties of the post will include the care of inpatients and outpatients alongside teaching medical students and the MDT. The role will also include non-teaching commitments in gynaecology and obstetrics.

Annual and study leave will need to be arranged around your teaching commitments although you will have protected time during your weekly schedule to study for the PG Certificate.  As a valued member of the resident doctor team, you will be included in the educational and training activities of the unit and encouraged to contribute to the teaching of nurses, midwives and other junior doctors in the team.
