Pharmacy Storekeeper/ Porter

Job Purpose
To ensure all pharmaceuticals received correspond to those ordered and to ensure they are received and stored in a safe and timely manner.
To participate in appropriate routine duties within distribution and stores
To ensure good distribution practices are observed and maintained.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
1. To carry out duties according to standard operating procedures.
2. To work in the Pharmacy goods-in area which although under cover is by necessity generally more open to the elements.
3. To receive the full range of medicines and pharmaceuticals, including cytotoxic, controlled drugs, antidotes, injections, external preparations, dressings, diagnostic agents, bulk intravenous fluids, irrigations, dialysis fluids, vaccines, x-ray contrast media, highly inflammable products, and enteral and parenteral feeds into the Pharmacy Store from a range of external suppliers.
4. To check the integrity of delivered packages and sign for their receipt - in the case of controlled drugs sign for the appropriate item and quantity.
5. To prioritise items to be received according to storage conditions, i.e., items requiring storage in a freezer or refrigerator, supplier type and urgency of requirement.
6. To unpack all items and ensure they are not potential falsified medicines and are in a safe condition to handle. Where packages are found to be broken deal with any spills according to procedures, this could potentially involve dealing with cytotoxic spillages.
7. To check goods received against delivery notes to ensure correct item and quantity has been delivered.

8. To note batch numbers of all items and bring to the attention of the Senior Assistant Technical Officer Procurement any items with a short expiry.
9. To check goods received against relevant Pharmacy order, the use of the Pharmacy computer system stock control module may be required for some of these processes.
10. To complete the relevant paperwork for part delivered orders.
11. To bring to the attention of the Senior Assistant Technical Officer Procurement any discrepancies in goods received and goods received note or goods ordered.
12. To date stamp all received items and annotate with a signature as the receiving storekeeper.
13. To assist in the loading or offloading of a delivery vehicle if necessary, including the use of electric or manual pallet moving equipment (Including forklift).
14. To ensure electric pallet moving equipment is kept charged and checked according to manufacturer’s instructions.
15. To put all received items away in their correct locations in the Pharmacy store ensuring this is done in a timely, accurate and safe way and that stock is stored/rotated according to expiry date and batch segregated.
16. Liaise, when necessary, with appropriate Pharmacy staff concerning timing and sizes of deliveries and orders.
17. Assist the Senior Procurement ATO with the process of conducting stock checks and Pallet store expiry date checks.
18. To maintain the goods receipt/stores area in a clean, tidy, safe, and secure manner.

Qualifications
Meini prawf hanfodol
- GCSE Maths and English (A-C/ 4-9) or equivalent level of qualification / equivalent demonstrable experience.
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy or prepared to work towards.
Aptitude and Abilities

Knowledge and Experience
