Job overview
- To lead the delivery and development of a high quality diagnostic respiratory physiology and sleep service, providing expert professional and clinical leadership.
- To carry out a broad range of respiratory and sleep investigations, and to play a key role in the development of the specialist diagnostic services, ensuring a high standard of technical work is maintained.
- The post holder will autonomously use their clinical judgement to assess, investigate, diagnose, plan, implement, manage and evaluate clinical care and management of sleep patients within an agreed scope of practice.
- To exercise a high degree of personal professional autonomy and make critical judgments to satisfy the expectations and demands of the role.
- To ensure the team provide continuous provision of evidence-based patient care, effective and efficient management of resources and staff development and education.
- To lead discussions in service development and strategic planning and assisting with integrated care pathways in the local community

Main duties of the job
Manage and lead the sleep and physiology service.
Undertake and interpret complex sleep and physiological tests.
Assess new patients to the service including see and treat.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven extensive demonstrable clinical experience at senior level
- Demonstrate sufficient experience and exposure in respiratory and or sleep medicine.
- Ability to lead and manage teams
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MSC in Physiology or equivalent
- • Professional Body Registration a) AHCS or HCPC b) ARTP (Association for Respiratory Technology and Physiology
Desirable criteria
- MBA or other formal management level qualification
- Leadership & management Qualification
- Teaching qualification / PGCE
Apptitude & Abilities
Essential criteria
- • Ability to undertake or have undertaken clinical audit.
- • Ability to communicate with all members of the MDT at any level.
