NHS AfC: Band 5

Job overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Nurse with an interest in elderly care and dementia, or someone keen to develop their knowledge and experience in this rewarding area of nursing.

Cheetham Hill Ward is a 28-bedded healthcare of the elderly ward, caring for patients with a wide range of acute medical conditions. You will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team (MDT), making a real difference to the lives of our patients every day.

In this role, you will:

  • Work collaboratively to ensure a safe and effective clinical environment for patients, carers, visitors, and staff.

  • Deliver high standards of care in line with the Trust’s values and expected behaviours.

  • Carry out assessments, treatment, and documentation in accordance with national guidelines, including the Stroke National Guidelines.

  • Act as an advocate for patients, their families, and colleagues.

If you're committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care and are looking to grow your nursing career in a supportive and diverse team, we’d love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver personalised care tailored to individual needs, demonstrating adaptability and responsiveness.

  • Accurately document and evaluate all care provided.

  • Advocate for patients, their families, and colleagues at all times.

  • Promote a culture of honesty and learning, supporting a “no-blame” environment where experiences are shared for improvement.

  • Be aware of treatment plans and apply a problem-solving approach to minimise adverse reactions.

  • Work effectively as part of a team, maintaining open and collaborative communication across departments

Working for our organisation

Working pattern:

You will be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of our service, which includes a combination of long days, night shifts, weekends and bank holidays. Our shift patterns are as follows:

  • Day shift: 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Night shift: 7:30 PM – 8:00 AM

We are currently recruiting for four positions on our ward and are happy to consider both full-time (37.5 hours per week) and part-time contracts, with options for 11.5, 23, or 34.5 hours per week.

Our service operates across long days, nights, and weekends, and we are looking for individuals who can work flexibly within these patterns on a permanent basis.
