Essential criteria

NMC registered
Masters (Level 7 or equivalent Independent/Supplementary Prescriber

Desirable criteria

Experience in drugs and alcohol substance misuse

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria

Significant and demonstrable experience of working within a Substance Misuse Service
Motivational Interviewing - MI training
Fully conversant with the recovery agenda and associated interventions utilised in the substance misuse field
Proven experience of working in partnership with professionals from several agencies
Fully conversant with NICE and DoH guidelines in relation to drug and alcohol interventions/treatment
Full understanding and working knowledge of children’s and adult’s safeguarding procedures
Proven knowledge of the theory and practice of interventions to support problematic alcohol and drug users.
Proven competence in planning and delivering interventions for problematic drug and alcohol users
Development and Input into developing policy in relation to specialist prescribing of controlled drugs

Peer MDT diagnostic decision-making, with the support of the senior clinical MDT where required
Tech-enabled outcome report writing
Outcome calls with parents and families (via video call)

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.
