Job overview

This is an integrated Pharmacy Assistant role designed to provide flexible support across the Pharmacy Department. The post holder will work collaboratively within the dispensary, distribution, and ward-based stock management teams, ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective supply of medicines throughout the organisation. 

 

Successful applicants with no pharmacy experience will start at Band 2 until competition of training course upon which will move to Band 3. 

 

Main duties of the job

  • Duties will include dispensing support activities, receipt and distribution of pharmaceutical stock, stock replenishment and maintenance of ward medicines cupboards, and contributing to the smooth operation of pharmacy services. The role requires the ability to work across multiple workstreams, adapting to service needs while maintaining high standards of accuracy, patient safety, and customer service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Maths grade C or equivalent (candidates currently working towards this may be considered)
  • English grade C or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy services or equivalent dispensing qualification

Knowledge and skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Computer literate
  • Well-developed organisational, time management and planning skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of the NHS and the role of Pharmacy
  • Recent experience of working in Pharmacy
  • Recent experience of working in the hospital environment
