We are looking for a dynamic, HCPC registered Physiotherapist with an interest in frailty to join our admission avoidance therapy team who work across our urgent and emergency care areas at Torbay Hospital.

Main duties of the job
· You will be based in the urgent and emergency care department at Torbay Hospital, covering ED, the acute medical unit, including a contribution to our 4 - 6pm late duty and weekend service.
You will provide expert physiotherapy interventions for older patients. This would include a broad range of Physiotherapeutic assessment and intervention types associated with frail older people including respiratory and MSK.
· You will lead and support junior physiotherapists, assistants, and students, while working within multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic patient care.
· You will play a key role in discharge planning and rehabilitation strategies, contributing to an integrated 7-day service that improves patient outcomes.
· You will have the opportunity to contribute to service development and engage in research opportunities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Work within acute and emergency care clinical areas and short stay wards with multidisciplinary teams, providing Physiotherapy assessments and interventions and discharge processes.
Provide clinical leadership and supervise junior staff and students.
Participate in service development, audits, and support staff training.
Complete accurate documentation and timely data input.
Utilise advanced therapeutic skills and communicate effectively with patients, carers, and external agencies.
Ensure compliance with national and local policies.
Manage physiotherapy equipment and contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and training
Essential criteria
- HCPC registration as a Physiotherapist
- Recent broad range of Experience within an NHS setting as band 5 or 6
- Physiotherapy degree
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate training in frailty
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates experience of working with older people in the NHS including respiratory care
- Experience of complex discharge planning inc Mental Capacity assessments
- Experience of working in NHS acute hospital wards/primary care and or Emergency Care settings
- Previous experience of supervising students and junior staff
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and understanding of complex frailty assessments and skills
Specific Skills
Essential criteria
- Experience of using strength based, person centred approaches
- Ability to work at pace
Desirable criteria
- Experience of involvement in improvement and innovation work
