Job overview

We are looking for an experienced Pre-treatment Therapeutic Radiographer to join our friendly multi-professional radiotherapy team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.  We deliver a range of treatment techniques, including Lung and Bone SABR and we are actively engaged in both commercial and non-commercial research trials. 

You will be an enthusiastic Therapeutic Radiographer with significant experience in pre-treatment activities including CT, 4DCT, cannulation, contrast delivery and palliative virtual simulation.

You will be joining at an exciting time when we are implementing SGRT (now installed on both linacs and in CT) and abdominal compression.  In addition we are upgrading our current version of Mosaiq in the Autumn and working towards implementation of a new Devon wide EPR system.

Main duties of the job

  • You will be expected to provide an efficient, effective and timely pre-treatment service in accordance with the departmental protocols and procedures. 
  • You will be responsible for the accurate and timely production of Radiotherapy planning-CT datasets for a range of body-sites, including use of 4DCT and contrast. 
  • You will be responsible for the palliative radiotherapy pre-treatment calculations and data entry.
  • You will liaise and work with the treatment radiographers in problem solving complex treatment set-ups or issues as they arise and help produce guidance for IGRT when required.
  • You will be supported with on-going professional development and in maintaining your own portfolio of practice.
  • You will contribute to maintaining the radiotherapy BSI accreditation and ensure that all patients receive an outstanding quality service.

The department actively participates in clinical trials, and we ensure early adoption of changes to standard of care of radiotherapy to ensure our local population receive the most current treatment available.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • DCR(T) or BSc (Hons) Therapy Radiography Completion of Preceptorship period or appropriate previous experience at band 5.
  • HCPC Registered
Desirable criteria
  • Audit Training
  • MSc level education in CT or other technical subject

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Specialist knowledge across a range of treatment and pre-treatment activities
  • Able to communicate complex condition/treatment related information requiring empathy, sensitivity and reassurance (to patients and carers)
  • IT competent
  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to ensure compliance with quality system and ISO9001:2015
  • Significant experience working in pre-treatment
  • Work flexibly in a variety of situations and participate in shift work as required. Work confidently within the multidisciplinary team
  • Actively involved in education of undergraduate students
Desirable criteria
  • Practice Educator
  • Previous experience with Cannon CT Scanner
  • Previous experience of SGRT
  • Previous experience of EPIC EPR
  • Cannulation and Contrast Delivery Trained
  • Previous Experience with Pinnacle TPS
