Job overview

We are currently seeking a part time Band 6 Charge Nurse/Sister to join our team on Dart ward. 

We welcome applicants who are passionate and driven, ready to take on a new challenge in their nursing career. Depending on your level of experience, training and support will be provided to help you succeed in this role. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable management experience and further develop your clinical and professional skills with the guidance of our experienced Band 6 team and Ward manager.

As the Band 6 Charge Nurse/Sister, you will be responsible for overseeing shifts and providing support to the nursing staff. Join us Dart ward and make a difference in the lives of our patients.

 

Main duties of the job

Work as part of a team both on the ward as a band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse, but also with other multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure a seamless delivery of service  

Co-ordinate the ward to maintain flow and the patients journey 

Assess the care needs of the patients and their families. To support the team to develop, implement & evaluate the care to a high standard, whilst demonstrating a compassionate nature and maintaining patients dignity

Participate as a skilled member of the multi-disciplinary team

Act as clinical advisor on nursing issues to ensure a high-standard of care is maintained utilising evidence-based practice

Participate in direct care and to facilitate sound discharge planning

This not only applies to patients who are being rehabilitated back to their homes but also for to those who are on an end of life pathway or are still actively being treated within a sub-acute environment.

  • NMC registration
  • Evidence of continual professional development

Knowledge & Experience

  • Recent registered nursing experience
  • Senior band 5 coordinating in an acute ward setting
  • Safe and competent practitioner aware of own limitations and needs
Desirable criteria
  • Experience within Elderly Care

  • Able to work flexibly across a 24 hour rota
  • Willingness to learn new skills
