Job overview

Are you a Consultant who is enthusiastic and dedicated to working within Psychiatry? If so we have an opportunity to recruit a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to work in Bournemouth CAMHS, based in Shelley Clinic.

As a Consultant you will provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team, alongside a clinical service manager, team leads and consultant colleagues. Medical leadership is valued within the team and there is recognition that effective leadership improves all aspects of a service. Clinical aspects of the post arise from an overall role to lead the team in the provision of effective assessment and treatment services for patients aged up to 18 years. The role includes a focus on supporting improvements in the process of transition to the adult mental health services as and when appropriate. All referrals to community CAMHS are screened and assessed by the Gateway team before being passed on to Specialist CAMHS if appropriate.

You will be expected to take part in the On-call rota unless an exemption is made following discussion with Medical Director /Deputy Medical Director.

It is essential that you will be expected to maintain Section 12 (2) and be an Approved Clinician.

Do you have a friend or family member you would recommend to join us? Or do you know someone who wants to return to practice in the NHS? If the person you refer is appointed by the Trust and completes their probationary period you will receive £500 reward payment for the introduction!

Main duties of the job

The postholder will take part in multi-disciplinary case conferences & reviews as required by the clients’ clinical needs & the Trusts operational policies.

As a senior professional, your role will include activities supporting both direct clinical contacts  & service delivery. Examples of these activities include policy development, quality improvement initiatives, teaching, appraising colleagues, line management or other nominated roles.

You'll be expected to work with the Bournemouth & Christchurch core CAMHS to cover emergency work & to keep waiting lists within the Trust agreed limits.
