Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for administering various vaccinations to the population of Dorset including school aged immunisations and flu, staff flu and as lead provider of COVID vaccinations in Dorset we are part of the biggest vaccination programme in history. In the latest vaccination programme, the South West region achieved the highest COVID vaccination uptake in the country and we were 7th within that region, and our ambition is to build on everything we have learned so far to make the next campaign our most far reaching yet!

We are looking for an experienced pharmacy technician to join our vaccination team.

In this new and innovative role, you will work with a high degree of autonomy, and you will have input into the future development of the service.  We are looking for a dynamic, organised, enthusiastic, and committed pharmacy technician to join the Integrated Vaccination Service who will contribute to the ongoing pharmacy support and guidance as it transitions into a business- as- normal model. The successful candidate must be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of the service.

A Band 6 to Band 7 progression role will be considered for an established Band 6 who is able to demonstrate some competencies in all essential criteria.

 

 

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the Lead Pharmacist and this post will have responsibility for overseeing and coordinating the pharmacy elements of the Integrated Vaccination Service as we build our new pharmacy vaccination team. You will be responsible for managing this new team and will bring experience and ideas on how the team will develop and grow.

You will assist and deputise for the Lead Pharmacist in the development and delivery of the pharmacy services to multiple sites across Dorset, including our two main vaccination hubs (one at Kings Park Bournemouth and the other at the Linden Unit Weymouth) and numerous satellites and pop-up clinics.  You will support the vaccination team to deliver a high-quality person-centered service using up to date evidence-based practice.

The successful candidate will hold UK professional registration with the GPhC as a pharmacy technician and have significant, demonstrable, relevant post registration experience.  You must have a Level 3 QCF Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (NVQ) plus a Level 3 QCF Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BTEC) or equivalents. Previous aseptic and quality assurance experience is desirable but not essential. Candidates should be approachable, supportive with excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
