Job overview
As a Catering Assistant you will help prepare sandwiches and salads. You will also help to prepare meals, hot/cold snacks that are served within our staff dining room, serving visitors, staff and patients. You will also be required to carry out other general kitchen duties.
Catering Assistants within the hospital have a key role in maintaining a high standard of meal provision to patients and make a valuable contribution in the wider care team that supports patients during their time in hospital. You should have good organisational and communication skills, be flexible in your approach to work whilst demonstrating an ability to work using your own initiative and work as part of a friendly dedicated team at Bridport Hospital
This post is for 25 hours per week to include every other weekend (weekend working attracts enhanced pay)
The proposed shift pattern is as follows
Week 1 Monday 07:00-15:00, Thursday 11:00 - 18:30, Saturday 07:30-18:30
Week 2 Sunday 07:30 -18:30, Monday 07:00-15:00 , Tuesday 07:00-15:00
Employment in this post requires a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
Main duties of the job
As a Catering Assistant, you will help prepare sandwiches and salads, help to prepare meals, hot/cold snacks and pack frozen meals for onward delivery.
Washing up and catering general duties will also be part of your day - a full and varied role that is vital to the smooth running of the hospital kitchen.
We are looking for someone with good organisational and communication skills, be flexible in your approach to work whilst demonstrating an ability to work using your own initiative and work as part of a team.
The attached job description is a multiskilled support services assistant, and as such gives an option to cover other duties if required.
