Speech and Language Therapist

Band 5

Job overview

The Dorset Community Adult Speech and Language Therapy service is innovative, dynamic and currently in a phase of development. If you are excited by change and keen to contribute to creating a better service for people living with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties, we would like to hear from you.

We are offering a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapy role within the Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy service; this role will be based at Alderney Community Hospital and Shelley Road, covering Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, and East Dorset. The post holder will be responsible for providing a community clinical service. You will be supported by Band 6 and Band 7 therapists and there will be opportunity to work with SLT assistants and other therapists within our service.

There is potentially the opportunity to work with the local adult acute SLT teams  in order to provide a robust learning experience and enable development.

We offer plenty of CPD opportunities, and regular supervision, including peer supervision with other Band 5's across the county.

Our service embraces flexible working and we support a hybrid model of working.

If you want to spend time with us to see who we are, where we work and understand the role and service more then please do get in touch.

Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.

Main duties of the job

The service sees patients in their own home, video call appointments, in clinics and in Community Hospital settings. As a member of the Team you will be expected to work collaboratively with the other team members to manage the locality caseload as needed.

This post offers the opportunity to:

To provide a high quality person centred approach to care delivery which always considers people’s safety, privacy and dignity.
To undertake assessment of patients / service users care needs, and develop programmes of care as part of the wider multi-disciplinary care team.
To provide advice to patients/ service users and carers regarding their care.
To plan, implement and review health improvement programmes in a range of settings.
Provide supervision, mentorship, and clinical support to students and junior staff in the team.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced DBS check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.  Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
