Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse Associate to join the West Park Hospital Community Mental Health Team. The applicant must have already have completed the Nursing Associate foundation degree and be a registered Nurse Associate on the NMC register.  The successful applicant will work as part of the busy community team offering a recovery focused pathway to Service Users and will carry their own caseload as Lead Professional.

We are big on teamwork here at West Park Hospital and the successful applicant will become part of a well established and effective team - helping to support our local community. 

The successful applicant will need to have a foundation degree in Nursing Associate and be registered as a nursing associate on the NMC register.  Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or equivalent is required to be recruited in to the position on Band 4.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work as part of the busy integrated community mental health team offering a recovery focused interventions to service users.  The  applicant will carry their own caseload as Lead Professional with supervision and support from the wider multi disciplinary team. This role will involve multiagency working and liaison with other services within Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS Trust.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
  • Nursing Associate Foundation Degree qualification
  • GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification in assessment, supervision and teaching in clinical practice

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Up to date understanding of the scope of and role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and multidisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
  • Experience of working with clients who experience mental illness

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of mental illness and associated conditions.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload.
  • Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with people, their families, carers and colleagues.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in completion of clinical observations, with desirable experience around depot injections however, not essential.
