Job overview

As the Lead Integration Developer at Tees, Esk, and Wear Valleys NHS Foundations Trust (TEWV) you will support with the development and management of a team of Integration Developers and will play a pivotal role in the implementation and ongoing support and maintenance of an integration engine and associated interface developments within the Trust.

We are looking for enthusiasm, an eye for detail, a proactive approach and solid interface development experience in addition to staff management experience that aligns with our Trust values of respect, compassion, and responsibility to assist with the implementation of our Digital and Data Journey to Change.

An understanding of how the role will support the delivery of high-quality care within an ambitious organisation is vital.

Main duties of the job

A key member of the management team within the Systems and Development section, reporting into the Systems Delivery Manager.

Management of the Integration team, Integration Engine platform and the development of associated interfaces is at the core of this role, along with ensuring that best practice process is implemented in relation to interface development, maintenance, and associated documentation.

To work closely with other teams within the Systems and Development section to provide specialist advice and guidance around the development and implementation of system interfaces, and to continuously seek and implement process improvement and evaluate new and emerging technologies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The establishment and pro-active management of a talented and customer focussed systems integration team responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of robust integration solutions.

Design, develop, and implement efficient, robust, and secure interfaces through the use of an integration engine to both connect and facilitate the sharing of data between a wide range of systems and applications including through the use of HL7 and FHIR messaging, whilst working to the latest standards in terms of industry best practice, delivery techniques and processes to ensure that the Trust gains maximum benefits from interfaces implemented.

Design, development and testing of interfaces using integration best practice and coding standards including full commenting of code to ensure that solutions can be maintained and/or updated by the wider systems integration team.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree standard or equivalent preferably in an informatics related subject.
  • OR Equivalent experiential learning in the field of systems integration and interface design, development testing, and implementation
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate qualification standard or equivalent or experiential learning in an informatics related subject.
  • Qualifications/certificates in software development, in particular systems integration.

Knowledge/ Skills/experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of developing and implementing integration solutions utilising associated integration platforms utilising HL7 and FHIR messaging standards and Spine Mini Services.
  • Experience of developing applications using languages such as, but not limited to: • SQL • C# • Java
  • Experience of change control processes and producing technical specification options.
  • Experience of managing and supporting complex database management systems in busy, confidential settings.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of interface development via the HealthShare - Health Connect Integration Engine
  • Knowledge of change management principles (ITIL)
  • Working in an NHS environment
