With a budget of around £365m, three hospitals and 5,500 staff, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital-based services to the population of Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees and parts of East Durham and Sedgefield as well as community, therapeutic and screening to a wider population across Durham and Teesside.

Job overview

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an outstanding individual to join the Trust’s ICT Server Team in the role of ICT Server Analyst. This team manages and supports all aspects of the Trust's  Server and Storage Infrastructure within North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

You will assists with all aspects of the day to day administration and management of ICT systems, having a good breadth and depth of ICT knowledge gained through experience, as you will be required to work without supervision and will need to understand the complexity of the overall ICT environment within the Trust.

This role is a full time post working 37.5 hours per week.

The ideal candidate would have a good knowledge across a broad range of ICT Operating Systems  and applications including but not limited to, Microsoft Windows, Linux, VMWare, MSSQL, Cache, and Microsoft SCCM

Main duties of the job

To maintain all systems in a state where the business processes of the trust can be guaranteed. Ensure that planned and unplanned interruptions to these services and systems are dealt with efficiently and satisfactorily.

To maintain the strategic operational support for the trust’s systems situated in the computer rooms at University Hospital of North Tees (UHNT), University Hospital of Hartlepool (UHH) and peripheral locations.

To document administration tasks and develop these into successful strategies for the management of these systems.

To be the point of contact in ICT with regards to all ICT system infrastructure and core specialist software applications based in the computer rooms at UHNT and UHH.

To provide specialist advice across a range of ICT systems, investigate a range of specialist and complex issues.

To manage or lead on ICT projects involving implementation and design associated with operational support. 

To document administration procedures and policies for all ICT systems across all trust sites

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Primary focus is to maintain, configure and build both hardware and software elements of the Trust’s main server estate whether physical or virtual, ensuring unscheduled downtime is kept to a minimum.

This includes all of the Trust’s storage areas whether supporting block or file level storage systems. Keeping all documentation and paperwork up to date ensuring appropriate IG and Audit recommendations are met. To maintain and manage all software that is used to manage or monitor the server hardware / software.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree level or substantial working experience in related environment
Desirable criteria
  • MCP / MCSE

Skills/Aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to investigate and diagnose complex system problems

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of MS operating systems, Active directory, SQL, VMWare, and Horizon VDI
Desirable criteria
  • Unix/Linux, SCCM

Experience

  • Working knowledge of Enterprise backup Solutions

  • Avamar backup & restore
