Senior Occupational Therapist

NHS AfC: Band 6

Job overview

The Intermediate Care Therapy Team are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our team working on the inpatient rehabilitation unit at Bognor Intermediate Care Unit in Bognor Regis. We would be happy to consider experienced band 5 applicants who wish to develop into a band 6 role. In this circumstance, the position would be paid initially at band 5 level until B6 competencies achieved.

The Occupational Therapists in our team are recognised and valued as integral to patient experience and outcomes. You will work as part of a team of OTs, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants, as well as the wider multidisciplinary team, at the Bognor Unit. Our team also provides inpatient therapy at two other units (Arundel Hospital and Ferring Ward) so you will have the opportunity to work with other colleagues and may, on occasion, be asked to work at these alternative units. You will be supported by our clinical leadership team.

Our Trust and leadership teams are committed to supporting your work/life balance via flexible working and tailored support to help you advance your clinical practice and leadership skills in a style that suits you, your health and wellbeing and your future career aspirations. This is an ideal opportunity to bring your skills and develop them in a flexible, supportive, and positive community service. If you are looking for a challenge and want to join a dynamic team in a friendly and proactive Trust, then this is the role for you.

Main duties of the job

To practice as an occupational therapist managing the occupational therapy case load in the inpatient setting and delegating work to other team members as appropriate.

To develop and maintain a high standard of clinical practice as a member of the multidisciplinary team, in line with the code of professional conduct of the College of Occupational Therapists.

To assist the multi-disciplinary team in preparing intervention plans, implementing rehabilitation and planning complex discharges.

To be able to carry out access visits, travelling there in a timely manner, where it is clinically reasoned as essential.

To work jointly with other professionals to ensure a patient-centred approach.

To review and reflect on your practice through regular participation in professional supervision with your nominated occupational therapy supervisor.

To provide clinical supervision to other members of the team, as agreed with the Therapy Lead.
