Job overview
Are you a dynamic and visionary leader passionate about shaping the future of dermatology services? We are seeking an exceptional individual to drive the rapid recovery and transformation of our dermatology services at University Hospitals Sussex. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on patient care and contribute to a unified, future-ready dermatology service across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
- Providing strategic leadership to the multidisciplinary team, ensuring alignment with national recovery goals and a clear vision for restoring and strengthening dermatology services. This includes ensuring a high-performing culture through visible leadership, coaching, and supporting clinical and operational teams.
- You will lead weekly performance reviews, identify bottlenecks and risks, and collaborate with Business Intelligence and clinical teams to develop dashboards that track key indicators like demand, capacity, and throughput.
- Utilising best practice guidelines, including those from GIRFT and the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD), to redesign pathways for efficient, safe, and patient-centered care. You will champion sustainable models such as community dermatology, virtual clinics, and enhanced triage to improve patient access and outcomes. This role will involve building the foundations for a future-ready service, including workforce planning, digital enablers, and modern infrastructure, aligning transformation efforts with NHS Sussex priorities and broader outpatient recovery initiatives.
- Developing and executing a comprehensive communication plan to engage all stakeholders (clinicians, executives, patient groups) on recovery progress and transformation changes. You will facilitate regular briefings, translate complex data into accessible messages, and promote a culture of open communication and continuous improvement.
