Job overview

Join our dynamic UHSx Homecare team as a Clinical Support Pharmacist, where you'll have the unique opportunity to develop as an independent prescriber while engaging in embedded practice rotations within various specialist clinical teams such as rheumatology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and neurology. This role is not just a job but a career journey, involving project work in High Cost Drugs governance, clinical education, and operational management, including the Surrey and Sussex Regional Immunoglobulin Assessment panel. Main duties of the job

  • Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to deliver standardized patient communication, manage complex clinical discussions, and develop training programs. Adept at handling sensitive information and negotiations in challenging environments.
  • Clinical Expertise: Strong background in clinical pharmacy, with a focus on high-cost medications, and the ability to provide specialist counseling and therapeutic advice.
  • Operational Management: Capable of taking operational responsibility for key services, demonstrating political judgement, and producing complex reports.
  • Service Delivery and Improvement: Proficiency in evaluating and prescribing high-cost medicines, supporting research programs, managing data, and advocating for patients.
  • People Management: Leadership and management skills, especially in supervising teams and coordinating panels, with a focus on training and development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Provide clinical and operational support to the UHSx Homecare service. The post holder will be expected to develop as an independent prescriber and will serve embedded practice rotations within peripheral specialist clinical teams (rheumatology / dermatology / ophthalmology / neurology). The role will include project work relating to the use and governance of High Cost Drugs including contribution to clinical governance and education & training for staff and students. The post holder will take 
operational responsibility for the Surrey and Sussex Regional Immunoglobulin Assessment panel

  • UK Pharmacist Registration
  • Hospital experience in Elderly Care
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
  • Independent Prescribing Qualification
  • MSc in clinical pharmacy or equivalent
