Are you a highly motivated Physiotherapist with an interest in Stroke?

We are looking for a Highly Specialist, Band 7 Physiotherapist for the acute stroke physiotherapy team at Eastbourne District General Hospital (EDGH) to work alongside our therapy leads.

The stroke unit is a 39 bedded unit, including 9 hyper-acute stroke beds. You will work closely alongside the stroke multi-disciplinary team in  the assessment, acute rehabilitation and discharge planning of this cohort of patients. You will be supported with the review of more highly complex patients by working alongside our Advanced Practitioner.

There is a weekly in-service programme alongside additional learning opportunities across the whole stroke pathway, to support with both your own personal development and the upskilling of the therapy team, which you will take an active part in supporting and delivering.

You will co-ordinate and manage the specialist Physiotherapy Service in the Acute Stroke Unit at EDGH alongside fellow therapy leads.

You will work closely with Allied Health Professional Leads, nursing, medical and managerial team leads, in the operational and strategic development of the Integrated Stroke Pathway.

You will need to be flexible in your approach, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to manage a complex clinical caseload.

The Acute Stroke team are supported by an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, a Service Manager and a Professional Lead Physiotherapist. We are actively committed to continuing professional development through clinical supervision, specialist Neurological teaching and training.

  • Evidence of comprehensive CPD to Masters level or equivalent experience, knowledge and skills
  • Postgraduate: higher level learning. MSc modules/PG certs/diplomas in clinically relevant specialist area

Experience

  • Substantial post registration experience of working at a Band 6 level within area of speciality
  • Experience of planning and facilitating complex discharges
  • Developing and appraising staff, including the provision of supervision
  • Evidence of delivering services along evidence based guidelines
  • Evidence of leading audit/service review

  • Experience of team lead role and responsibilities
  • Experience of multi-professional working and working with external agencies

Skills

  • Highly specialised clinical skills within area of speciality
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards of practice and guidelines for clinical speciality
  • Experience of developing staff and/or students
  • Able to operationally lead on the delivery of services within a high pressure service and during times of variable demand, with support as required
  • Commitment to team working
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility in working on other sites and outside of key area of work as the service requires
  • To have completed Clinical Educator’s training
  • Good keyboard and IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and Outlook
