We are looking for a band 3 cardiac physiology associate to work across Trust sites in Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill. You will join our physiology associate team fitting cardiac monitors for heart rhythm and blood pressure, performing ECGs, assisting the cardiac physiologists in exericse testing and analysing 24hour ECG Holter recordings. There is also a small commitment to assisting the Respiratory team with spirometry and FeNo testing.
Whilst this role would suit candidates with previous healthcare experience we will consider applicants from other backgrounds with the skills and aptitude to work supporting our patients and wider Cardiology team.

Main duties of the job
To provide delivery of physiology role in the Cardiac Catheter Lab:
Set up ECG and pressure monitoring, record patient and procedure
data prior to, during and post procedure, communicate ECG and
pressure changes to the operators, respond as part of the team
should a cardiac arrest occur (normal physiology role in a cardiac
arrest is to run the defibrillator), detach patient at end of the case
and clean the patient area and equipment ready for the next case
Fit ambulatory ECG, BP and loop recorders following department
protocols.
Analyse ambulatory ECG, event recorder and remote ECG
recordings providing a formal report and feedback to physicians
where significant findings are seen.
To train fully in Cardiac Physiology techniques using a bespoke
internal training program. Participate in departmental and external
training to support clinical roles. Obtain external Cardiac Physiology
PTP equivalence through the Academy of Healthcare Science.

Qualifications / Training
Essential criteria
- BSc Cardiac Physiology in related science
- Voluntary registration with RCCP
- Evidence of continued professional development to post graduate diploma level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
- Further education in cardiological sciences
- Academy of Healthcare sciences PTP/STP equivalence
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in performing and assessing ECG
- Previous experience of working as part of a team
- Previous experience of training students and junior members of staff
Desirable criteria
- Experience or exposure to Echocardiography, transoesophageal and stress echocardiography
- Experience or exposure to Cardiac Catheterisation/IABP as a physiologist
- Experience or exposure to temporary or permanent cardiac
- Experience of supervising junior staff
- Experience in training staff of other disciplines
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Essential criteria
- Good interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
- Good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and Outlook
- Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise own workload
- Ability to work on own initiative.
Desirable criteria
- ILS or ALS resuscitation certificate
