Job overview
The Acute Medical Unit is a diagnostic and emergency treatment unit within acute medicine with a varied workload. The team is both friendly and supportive, with a strong commitment to providing a high standard of care, and we are looking for highly motivated, dynamic and passionate individuals
We pride ourselves on having an integrated friendly and welcoming team made up of Allied health professionals including Doctors, Nurses and Therapists. We work closely with all the departments and areas within the hospital including with our colleagues from Accident and Emergency, our ambulatory care team and all the ward staff. We currently assess/triage and admit patients with acute medical conditions from a variety of sources – including GPs, the Emergency Department and Outpatients Clinics.
We are looking for experienced Clinical Support Workers, hospital experience is desirable but not essential. A minimum of GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or Functional skills for English/Maths, Care Certificate and or NVQ2 two in health and social care or the equivalent role. Your role will be to provide delegated clinical procedures such as insertion/removal of cannula, venepuncture, wound assessment and simple dressings, removal of urinary catheter, training will be provided
Successful applicants will be required to complete an Induction course, which will include all the Trust statutory/Mandatory training to join our team inviting them to share their knowledge and experience with the ward; you will need to be well motivated and committed to high standards of patient care and personal professional development.
You must be able to work as part of a team, use your own initiative with effective interpersonal and communication skills, contributing fully as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. We will provide a supportive atmosphere, mentorship and clinical supervision on the unit and are committed to the professional development of all staff. Team working is an integral part of this unit with all staff enabled and empowered to make a real difference for their patient.

ESSENTIAL
Essential criteria
- Care Certificate
- GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or Functional skills for English/Maths
- Relevant experience of working in Health or Social Care Environment delivering personal care
- Ability to undertake vital observations and recognise any concerns that require
Desirable criteria
- Education and training to NVQ level 3/Work based diploma or equivalent
- Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, for example, Basic Life Support, manual handling, infection control, fire etc
- Relevant experience working in the NHS
