Job overview

To lead a team of Clinical Support Workers and provide specialist mental health advice, care and treatment to patients staff in the acute hospital setting.

Patients in the acute phase of admission to hospital or whilst waiting for appropriate placement, sometimes have mental health or enhanced care needs as well as physical health needs.

An exciting opportunity is available to join a new team of staff  who will provide specialist mental health and enhanced care  along side the acute care teams.

 

Main duties of the job

Registered Nurse with Mental Health qualification and experience to lead an enhanced care team across the Trust

Offering specialist advice and guidance to our clinical teams caring for patients with significant mental illness

Deliver a training programme for enhanced care and specialist skills in caring for patients with significant mental illness.

Line management, supervision and deployment of the enhanced care Clinical Support Worker team

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse and hold active registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Degree level qualification relevant to role
  • Professional qualification and training to lead the clinical team with relevant knowledge and skills for specialist area, including relevant formal training/qualification to deliver the required specialist skills and programmes of care
Desirable criteria
  • Management or leadership qualification or training
  • Quality improvement training and qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in nursing care, knowledge and expertise relevant to the clinical area within NHS or relevant health care organisation
  • Experience in clinical speciality relevant to role to be able to demonstrate the required level of professional knowledge and skills at a specialist level.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in leading a team or service change/QI project

Essential criteria
  • Professional clinical knowledge skills and skills that demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, develop and implement programmes of care, including complex/specialist care needs
  • Ability to apply professional judgement and problem solve and lead discussions within the team to resolve complex issues
