Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a comprehensive administrative support to the Endoscopy nursing team. They will be expected to organise their workload and co-ordinate their activities with other Endoscopy clinical office staff and Endoscopy nursing co-ordinators to ensure that an efficient service is provided. The Endoscopy Pre-Assessment Administrator will have the responsibility for the booking and cashing up of all pre-assessment clinics. The post holder will need to carry out their duties in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation of the work. It is essential that the Endoscopy Pre-Assessment Administrator should exercise initiative commensurate with the role and ensure that confidentiality be maintained at all times.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Good general level of education
- • GCSE Level A-C including Maths and English or equivalent
- • Numeric skills and good literacy with clear written and spoken English
- • NVQ level 3 in Administration or equivalent knowledge and experience
- • Typing and computer skills
- • Advanced IT skills
Desirable criteria
- • Oasis/PAS trained
- • ECDL or other recognised IT Qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Previous experience of administration or patient experience / customer service.
- • Previous experience of working in a busy office and dealing with conflicting demands.
- • Experience of working in a relevant role in the NHS or similar large complex organisation.
- • Experience of working without close supervision and multi-tasking to tight deadlines.
- • Must have experience of working under pressure and within a large team.
- • Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection.
- • Experience of keeping accurate records and systems
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of service improvement
- • Previous experience in an Endoscopy office environment
- • Understanding of hospital IT systems
- • Previously worked as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team.

Essential criteria
- Confident in use of Microsoft computer packages; such as Excel, Word and Outlook
- Ability to learn new computer systems.

- Knowledge of Trust patient administration systems
- Knowledge of medical/endoscopy terminology
- Knowledge of NHS waiting lists
- Knowledge of hospital environment / routines
