Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Bladder and Bowel Team, providing a high quality continence service to the residents of East Sussex. 

You will be based in within the Bladder and Bowel Team, providing services across Eastbourne, Hailsham, Seaford, Hastings & Rother and will be required to work cross site at times. 

You will need to be a car driver with access to a car, in order to work at various clinics across the patch, and occasional home visits to patients.

This band 5 post is an excellent opportunity to become skilled up within the team, in readiness to apply for a Band 6 post as it becomes available. You will be afforded training opportunities across a wide range of Bladder and Bowel/Continence competencies. You will be encouraged to attend training as available and achieve academic studies as appropriate to the role.

This is a small but dynamic team.  We provide a high standard of care across ESHT, for patients aged 19 and over who need our services.  If you have a passion for delivering high quality continence care then this is your opportunity to join us.

You will also eventually be expected to develop your teaching skills to support colleagues within the Trust in other teams, to support with continence care across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

To support the Band 6 Bladder and Bowel Specialist nurses in providing a comprehensive continence service across East Sussex. 

Develop and maintain a proactive service for patients with Bladder and Bowel dysfunction  within  Care Homes, and Nursing Homes, and also supporting in community clinics.

Provide training and education  and support to patients, carers and other health professionals within ESHT and the third Sector.

Participate in service development to develop a  high quality, cost effective Community Bladder and Bowel Advisory Service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current Registered 1st level Nurse
  • Continence/ bladder and bowel module / study or willingness to undertake
  • Managing Learning through Mentorship” module or ENB 997/998
  • Evidence of Diploma/Degree level study
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching qualification
