Job overview

The Intermediate Care Therapy Team are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our team working on the inpatient rehabilitation unit at Kleinwort Intermediate Care Unit in Haywards Heath. 

The Occupational Therapists in our team are recognised and valued as integral to patient experience and outcomes. You will work as part of a team of OT's, Physiotherapists and rehabilitation support workers, as well as the wider team, at the Kleinwort Unit. Our team also provides inpatient therapy at three other units (Crowborough, Lewes and Uckfield) so you will have the opportunity to work with other colleagues and may, on occasion, be asked to work at these alternative units. You will be supported by our clinical leadership structure.

Main duties of the job

To practice as an occupational therapist managing the OT case load in the inpatient setting and delegating work to other team members as appropriate.

To develop and maintain a high standard of clinical practice as a member of the multidisciplinary team, in line with the code of professional conduct of the College of Occupational Therapists.

To assist the multi-disciplinary team in preparing intervention plans, implementing rehabilitation and planning complex discharges. To be able to carry out access visits, travelling there in a timely manner, where it is clinically reasoned as essential. 

To work jointly with other professionals to ensure a patient-centred approach. Liaising with 

Review and reflect on your practice through regular participation in professional supervision with your nominated occupational therapy supervisor.

To provide clinical supervision to other members of the team, as agreed with the Therapy Lead.

To ensure the maintenance of assessment and treatment equipment in a satisfactory condition, and ensure careful use and return of same, cleaned, where appropriate. Report any suspect or faulty equipment to the appropriate manager.

To exercise good personal time management, punctuality and consistent reliable attendance.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years postgraduate experience as an Occupational Therapist
  • Experience of working in a wide range of clinical settings

  • Experience with complex D/C planning
  • Experience of student clinical educator role

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant Professional Qualification
  • Registration with HCPC as Occupational Therapist
  • Evidence of post graduate learning
