We're Hiring: Band 6 Occupational Therapist – Rehabilitation Ward

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking for your next challenge? We are seeking a dedicated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team on a busy Rehabilitation Ward!

About the Role:

As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in the rehabilitation journey of patients recovering from surgeries, injuries, or long term medical conditions. Your expertise will empower patients to regain independence in daily activities, improve their quality of life, and enhance their functional capabilities. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a multidisciplinary, patient-centered environment.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, and deliver tailored occupational therapy interventions to patients.
  • Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic, individualized care.
  • Support patients in developing strategies to enhance independence and engage in meaningful activities.
  • Provide expert advice and education to patients, families, and carers regarding daily living aids and techniques.
  • Supervise and mentor junior therapists and students, fostering professional development.

About You:

  • A qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration.
  • Experience working in a rehabilitation or acute  setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Passionate about patient care and driven to make a positive impact on patients’ lives.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc / MSc in Occupational therapy
  • Current registration with HCPC
  • Postgraduate qualification or evidence of relevant post-qualification professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Specialist postgraduate training
  • Practice Student Educator

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Broad range of Band 5 rotation experience/ or alternative OT equivalent experience
  • Experience of training/supervision.
  • Experience of multi-professional working
  • Experience of using client-centred goals
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Acute setting
  • Experience in community setting
  • Experience of equipment provision

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of CPD in previous year
  • Knowledge of client centred practice
  • Awareness of clinical governance and understanding of the NHS and challenges facing service delivery
  • Evidence of initiative and ability to use own initiative within boundaries of role
Desirable criteria
  • Specialist client group knowledge
