Job overview

You’ll support people using podiatry services, helping them maintain healthy, comfortable feet and stay mobile.
 
You’ll work with a friendly podiatry team to provide care to patients of all ages and needs. Your role helps people feel more comfortable, reduce pain, and improve their day‑to‑day wellbeing. You’ll also support smooth clinic operations and help patients feel at ease during visits.

Main duties of the job

What you’ll do:
  • Provide basic foot care, including nail and skin treatment, following care plans
  • Support podiatrists during clinics, dressing changes, and nail surgery sessions
  • Share simple foot health advice with patients and carers
  • Update patient records and assist with appointment booking and admin tasks
  • Help prepare equipment, maintain stock, and ensure a safe, clean environment

  • Experience working in a caring or public-facing role
  • Good communication skills and a kind, respectful approach
  • Basic IT skills and ability to keep accurate records
  • Willingness to learn and work towards relevant qualifications
  • Ability to manage your time and work both independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care related subject or willingness to work towards this
  • Willingness to work towards the national qualification for Podiatry Assistants awarded by the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists
Desirable criteria
  • Any biology GCSE or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of working in a health and social care environment
  • Basic IT skills
  • Knowledge of basic medical conditions
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of moving and handling

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working with people in a caring setting e.g. care homes
  • Working with the public
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS experience
